The cormorants are really making a mess out of the trees on this island. Is there anything that can be done short of eliminating the birds?

How do you know it's not good for the trees?
The trees never recover. There is a whole island in the StLawrence off the shores of Brockville that has been decimated, and there is a huge part of a spit, Leslie Spit I think, in Toronto that is the same.
