Four Mile Bay. Oct. 27, 2015

Fall Day on the Lake

I took the final cruise of the season yesterday on the Fortuitous as I was taking the boat off the lake for the winter.

Mazinaw Lke

This is the view of the small bay on Mazinaw Lake my pal Mike's cottage is on.  The drive there and back from North Bay to Pembroke and down Highway 41 was spectacular!

Thanksgiving Monday

It's a beautiful Thanksgiving Monday.  Marsha and I went for a paddle along the lake to check out the fall colours and enjoy the warmth.

Fall Cottage

One of the original cottages on an island on our lake shows off the fall colours.

Monster Hosta

This perennial monster hosta was bigger than anticipated this year as half of it was cut out and given to a neighbour.

Abandoned

Not sure of the meaning of the tag here, but the building appears t be unused and ripe for vandalization.

Lake Mazinaw

This is a view straight up the cliffs at Lake Mazinaw - about 300 feet straight up, and the drop is pretty much exactly the same straight down below the surface of the water.

The Mazinaw cliffs also have a number of petroglyphs that date back to hundreds of years before the North American invasion by white men.

August Sky

North Wind

The North Wind came in Tuesday afternoon with a vengeance - strong gale force winds and a huge drop in temperature.

Edge of Beaver Pond

The beavers were busy, and their efforts had caused the road to be under water, one of the reasons it's nice to have a truck, and this little pond was flourishing.

McConnell Lake

The Ice Marshal and I went for a little road trip to the McConnell Lakes area between North Bay and the Ottawa River to look for a needle in the haystack.  We didn't find the needle, but we had a swell time sight seeing in the bush.

Downtown Toronto Deer

While not as animate or footloose as the deer in our backyard, there are deer to be found in downtown Toronto.  These ones were spotted on the north side of Bloor Street between Church and Yonge.
