Lake Nipissing Ice, May 6, 2014

Our lake, Trout Lake, is ice free. Normally it is ice free after Lake Nipissing. This photo was taken at noon yesterday at the waterfront of Lake Nipissing. It is still very full of ice, especially around the Chief Commanda I.

Ice on Four Mile Bay

Here is a shot of the ice conditions on Four Mile Bay of Trout Lake this morning.  It will still be a while before the lake is ice free.

First Full Day of Spring

This was our view yesterday of the Compound from our hot seats in "Arkansas."  It was 0C, but much warmer in "Arkansas."

Winter Continues

The never ending winter - we are expecting up to 6 more inches of snow today.  At least it's not -30C like it was yesterday morning.

Oak Leaves

It is amazing that these oak leaves, and many more on the tree, have hung on to the tree all winter long considering the number of frigid days with wind, heavy wet snow, rain and freezing rain we've had.

Killer Strawberries 2014

Here's the Killer Strawberries last night after our final game of the season.  Missing is Johnny 2 Good and Philly Cheeseskates.

It was a pretty good season and a pleasure not only to still be able to play but also to play with these "gentlemen."

Despite temperatures of -28C, these Bikes still get used around Nipissing Village.

Rock Cut Ice and Sumac Buds

The heat of the sun is evident in the ice forming on the south facing rock cuts.  I just wish the air would warm up as well.

Snow Smile

While out snowshoeing yesterday in the "back yard," Sunny and I came across this snow smile.  It's pretty neat when snow sags and doesn't fall.

Lake Walk

We went for a 2 1/2 mile walk out on the lake late yesterday afternoon.  Well. I trudged through the deep snow for about 2 1/2 miles, Sunny ran for about 5 miles.  She loves to run.
