Toronto Fire Station 131, just off Yonge Street, north of Bloor, but back in 1911 when it was built, it was Fire Station No. 24.

Often the interesting part of a tree is what is usually below the ground.

Well, you don't see this very often on your average city streets let alone Yonge Street in Toronto.

The Don Valley Brickworks in Toronto is a pretty interesting place.  Among the various exhibits and things to see is this large one depicting the Toronto watershed.  The various rivers, streams, creeks and underground rivers are shown flowing through the city.  The green spaces or bush areas are the mossy bits on the exhibit, the major roadways are also indicated.  Apparantly it's a way more cool exhibit in the summer as all the water parts - rivers, streams, creeks and underground rivers - have water streaming down them.

Fall Sky Over Falconbridge Island

Here are a couple of shots of some of the downed "Sandy" trees at our place.  I didn't take any other photos as I was more concerned with getting the chainsaw out and taking care of the mess.

We felt the effects of Hurricans Sandy on Monday night and into Tuesday - mostly steady high winds with huge gusts.  The wind was from the NE, and it produced whitecaps on the lake, which rarely occurs with winds from that direction.  We lost 16 trees from the strong winds.

Sunny and I went on a short cruise on the Fortuitous this afternoon between the bouts of monsoon rain we've been having lately.  The colour of the leaves have passed their peak, but the birch, poplar and oak trees here on the section of land between Viceroy Road and West Peninsula Road still looks fabulous.

There are not many green ferns left in the bush now.  They are mostly done in by the colder fall weather.

I love the fall colours, but I think it's too bad they herald the winter.

I took this photo of a maple tree at our college last week.  Since then, with the cold, rainy, windy weather, it is now barenaked.

We were in London on Saturday to see the Neil Young & Crazy Horse concert.  My iPhone camera was the only camera at hand.  The quality of this photo is in inverse proportion to the quality of the concert - it was Fabulous!

On the south side of the Niagara Escarpment in central Southern Ontario in farming country is a small town called Monkton.  This is an old "feed" depot, which has seen better days, that somewhat resembles an old train station.

This oak tree stands at the top of our driveway.  It's a fabulous tree.  On Sat. I took down a 45 foot poplar tree that grew up beside the oak, inside its branches actually, and now the oak has its own space and room to spread out.  Currently, it spans out over 3/4 of the road our driveway opens on to.

It's not just the trees that change colour in the fall, the ground cover also has "a lot to say" in terms of fall colours.

The Fall 2012 Equinox arrived, and it was very cool and damp.  I thought we were in for above normal fall temperatures.
