Here are 3 doorways on Oak Street in North Bay. All 3 face Lake Nipissing and the new waterfront development. Although these doorways may appear "quaint", they would need some work to fit in with the new waterfront look.

I planted a couple dozen sunflowers, 3 different types, this spring. Little did I realize I was planting deer food. This is the only surviving flower.

These red and yellow petunias are in planters above deer height, so they continue to thrive.

The Killer Strawberries, Strawberries "Gone to Seed", and "Guests" enjoyed another fine outing on the links yesterday, followed by an evening of frivolity at the local pub, and then a parking lot celebration of their feats on the golf course.

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Mike, Bob and I strolled around downtown North Bay yesterday evening, and among other things we visited the old trains that re soon to become part of the Lake Nipissing waterfront attractions.

Another beautiful evening on the lake. The red arrow points the way to pal Mr. P.'s new "digs" on Sept. 1. Now that will be an interesting "development" on the lake.

Not all tools are cordless these days.

No, this is not from the tropics. This itsy bitsy yellow spider dropped down on a leaf of one of the hostas in our garden. Any ideas as to the type of spider? I've never seen a yellow spider before.

Day 3 of Geo-thermal installation had divers in the lake checking out the lines we laid out in the lake to ensure everything was A-OK. Last night the A-OK was a "go", and the system turned on and the "air conditioning" cooled the house down nicely from 86F to 73F effortlessly.

Day 2 of Geo-Thermal installation was a HOT one!! A couple more days and we should be done.

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

The geo-thermal installation for our heating and cooling was started this morning.

The lines that will end up in the lake are being threaded down the yard.

Gamma and Emmy roll past the guys setting up the lines for the geo-thermal.

Not the greatest of images, but the wildflowers at your feet in the country at this time of year are prolific.

Sunday, July 17, 2011

While at a retirement party for a friend near Nipissing village, I noticed this pine tree adorned with skulls and antlers - very rural, to say the least.

Another beauty day at the lake - sunny, hot, clear, calm water. So I went to the end of the dock with my camera to shoot the underwater vegetation and also found a school of minnows.

Then a 4 pound smallmouth bass swam around the minnows at the end of the dock.

Just cruisin' around, just staying out of reach of the minnows.

Apparently not too hungry.

The minnows "breathe" a collective sigh of relief. Not lunch this time.

After a few posts of Sunnyvale Stables, I suppose it's time to post a photo of one of the 20 or so horses. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Here's another photo from Sunnydale; although, this is from the smaller stable.

This is another image from inside the Sunnydale Stables.

This old stone house off Highway 11 North above North Bay has see better days and times.

Hmmm ... Summer!

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Hmmm, yummy. Supper ala Margaret on Bass Lake.

This was a good reflection until my canoe pal started paddling.

Here's the gang we had at our place on Saturday for a family reunion. Cousins, sisters and other family came from Texas, California, Collingwood, Windsor, Edmonton, Victoria and Toronto.

Sometimes trees really defy the odds and eke out an existence in near impossible situations like this cedar tree.

And, in other cases, trees are dealt hands where time and nature undermine their tenuous efforts. These old pine trees have a collapse in their future as the ground below them erodes away.
